Supporting young people displaced due to family violence

13 Jul 2022 by Adrian “Millsy” Mills

Family conflict, including aggressive behaviour and ongoing disputes, may contribute to young people prematurely leaving home. Disengaging from education may be an early indicator of homelessness due to housing issues or worrying situations in the home. DVA can assist those experiencing or at risk of homelessness by providing referrals to localised support services. Open Arms 24 hours telephone support is available to veterans and their families for confidential counselling on 1800 044 046. If you or a young person you know is experiencing family or domestic violence, contact 1800RESPECT on 1800 737 732 or visit www.1800respect.org.au.
